8 Months

My sweet angel girl is eight months old today. I remember this exact day one year ago, and it isn't too often that this happens. A good friend of my husbands, and former Marine, had passed away. He was in training in California. It was the first deployment my husbands unit would have without my husband. Wil was getting out of the Marine Corps that coming May, so he wasn't eligible. I will never forget the look on my husbands face when his other friend gave him the news via a phone call.

I never in a million years thought I'd have a sweet baby girl who would be eight months old, the next year to exact. I was terrified I would miscarry again, even after my 20 week mark I thought something would go wrong, but it didn't.

My sweet Audrey is eight months old today and I feel like time is now flying by. She will be a whole year old in just four          short months. Her birthday party planning will soon start. Her baptism is just a month away.

She brightens my day even more each day then the day before. Her laugh is music to my ears. She loves her walker and runs all over the house, thanks to our hardwood floors. Charlie, our English bulldog is her best bud. She is a daddy's girl but is Mamas best friend. She loves food like there is no tomorrow. She makes the funniest "hoo's" and waved for the first time two nights ago.

She is our world.

Soon she will be walking, and off to college (haha). Today I realized I need to stop and slow down. I need to enjoy these times and not try to rush them gone. I need to soak up every last bit of baby smell I can get because soon, it won't be near. My little girl isn't so little anymore.

The first day of preparation.

My husband was raised in a church, but I wasn't. Almost all my friends attended church regularly. My mother was raised Southern Baptist, and my father Catholic.

I guess they were confused once they had kids, and they just decided not to go to church at all. It's not that they don't believe in God, because they do. My father actually taught me a lot about God growing up, and I also attended church occasionally with friends when I stayed over at their houses.

When Wil and I got married, we got married in the court house. We planned to have some big fancy wedding a year later, but instead we had a baby. We attended church together once; on Christmas with his parents at a methodist church. There was a whopping 6 old women there, my in-laws, us, and the Asian pastor that I couldn't understand. I've been there twice.

When Audrey was born, people made it clear that I had to have a christening. I didn't think about it because, I haven't been baptized before. My parents left that completely up to me, and honestly I have anxiety too bad to go in front of a bunch of people and get dunked into water. It's just not me.

A few weeks ago Wil asked me if we could start attending church regularly, and I of course said yes, because I find nothing wrong with that. I believe in God.

So, we've been to our new church twice, and we love it. We have even decided to get Audrey baptized.

We are planning for it to be April 7th, and I have already started planning!

Since Audrey's birthday party will have
NOTHING pink in it (not because of the color, but because of the theme we are going with), I have decided to do a pink "ombre" look. This is what we have purchased so far :

I'm super excited about it, and I just love the idea of pink ombre. I plan to do a lot of DIY stuff, and I can't wait to share everything with everyone.

I even made her Invitations, which are these (I blacked out the addresses and phone numbers):

Keep an eye out for more purchases, and for the finished party! :)

The Bunny Slope

Husbands uncle owns a condo in Windham, NY at a ski resort. We live about 2 hours south of there. Last summer when he was (well he still is) really into mud runs (5ks that get your digestingly dirty), he did on at the ski resort in Windham. Neither one of us had skied befored, so we asked his uncle if we could use the condo for a weekend.

It was our first weekend away from Audrey together. I have taken Audrey to Illinois without Wil before, but I have never been away from her more then a two days. This was four. Big deal.

We got to windham around 5:30 on Friday evening. It was freezing, but what do you expect at a ski resort? We took our things into the condo, turned up the heat, and then went into town for burgers.

We had dinner at the Mountain Cave Brewery. We were disappointed because we were told they were "the best", but it's nothing we haven't had before. Wil is desperate to find the "Best" burger. They did well making my Malibu Bay Breezes, and Wil said the beer was decent (it was made there).

Saturday we took a beginners ski lesson, and skied most of the day. I crashed a few times, but it turned out to be fun. I don't believe I'm going to be in the Olympics anytime soon, but Wil wants to make it his new hobby (surprise, surprise).

We were supposed to go tubing on Sunday, but when we showed up we realized it was more for a younger age group..like 10. It was $25 a person, and we really didn't want to waste $50 dollars on something we weren't stoked about. Instead, we drove 20 miles down the mountain, bought red box movies and candy, then spend the night inside, where it was warm!

Monday morning we drove home and unpacked. It was a nice little get away, but I honestly thought I would have a better time then I really did. Wil and I enjoyed each others company, but I missed my angel girl so much. I guess I should have known that a Ski trip wouldn't be my go to thing when I actually loathe snow and cold weather; one day I will move back to the South! Let's just say I had an okay weekend, I was happy to get home, and it just makes me even more excited about our Disney vacation coming up!

A New Beginning

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I am back in business, with a new clean slate. If you are joining this new chapter after being a part of my last chapter, The Soon to be Rorks, The Rorks plus one, The Rorks on 13th Ave, whatever you want to call it..or if you are new, and just joining this crazy thing I called life, welcome.

Welcome to my new chapter. Deep breathe.

Honestly I don't have a certain path planned for this new blog. As of right now it is simply my online diary. It is going to be real and raw, real life problems. I'm excited, nervous, and scared but I missed blogging. I believe it's a part of me. Some part of me is a writer, and if that is destined to be a online blog about my life in general, then so be it.

If you don't know who I am, or what my background is, you will catch on pretty quick. I am a southern girl living 20 minutes away from New York City. I married my husband and became a 'Marine Wife' at the young age of 19. We welcomed our daughter Audrey a year later, just 2 days past our first wedding anniversary, shortly after we moved in with my in laws, in my husbands hometown, New Jersey.

I'm a young wife, and mother. I am in a medical assisting program and I will one day have my dream job; labor and delivery nurse.

This is my journey along the way: enjoy!
